I read this quote today and it hit me like a ton of bricks. I try so hard to make everyone happy that I become a "yes man". I forget to take care of myself. Then I become overwhelmed and feel like I'm starting from ground zero. Then that hard work is all for not because I literally stop functioning. I become overwhelmed with guilt because I'm not making it to events such as birthday parties, church, family get-togethers because I simply don't have the energy. I pull myself together and put on a good face for my daughter and give her all my love, but even that pulls and tugs at my soul. I want to give 100%. One of my love languages is gift giving. I love giving and doing acts of service, but I also burn myself out because I feel like if I'm not helping others then someone will be disappointed in me. I'm not even sure who that someone could be. Maybe friends, family, or maybe even God. After all, I must be good all the time and not make any mistakes. I'd hate to burn in hell for the rest of eternity because I wasn't being a good steward to others.
I've learned to pull myself out of that place and draw closer to the people who love me for who I am.

I have to remind myself that my symptoms are just symptoms, that they do NOT get to control my life. Get up. Get dressed. Go relax for a day. I try my best to keep my hands busy because if I don't, then I'm headed downhill very quickly and I'm only going to make my symptoms worse. It's important to take control of your life and not let your symptoms define you.
Here are some design ideas that can help you stay focused and productive:
- Create a designated workspace that is comfortable and inspiring. This can help you stay on task and motivated. For me, this is my bedroom. It's a place where I can craft, play video games, or blog.
- Incorporate calming elements such as plants, natural lighting and soothing colors to help you relax and bring your stress levels down.
- Use organizational tools such as a planner or calendar to stay on top of tasks and deadlines.
- Consider using fidget toys or stress balls to keep your hands busy and help alleviate anxiety.
- Surround yourself with positive affirmations and motivational quotes to stay inspired and uplifted. I have amazing friends who are always sending me funny or uplifting memes.
- Take breaks when needed and engage in activities that bring you joy and relaxation. This can help you recharge and maintain a healthy balance.
